The Voice Area and Opera Program are excited to institute a series of coaching residencies throughout the year. Nationally known opera coaches will be on campus for several days throughout each semester to coach, conduct, and perform with our students. Residencies in 2017-2018 included Caleb Harris, Christy Lee, and Laurie Rogers (Opera Saratoga, Dallas Opera, San Francisco Opera). The series began in the 2016-2017 season with the return of Laurie Rogers and the first visit of Thomas Bagwell (Metropolitan Opera, Washington National Opera, Santa Fe Opera). We also welcomed Amanda Johnston and Wei-Han Wu for residencies of coaching and musical preparation for our production of Die Lustigen Weiber von Windsor.
Starting in the 2018-2019 season, Maestro Rogers will be the permanent vocal coach, joining the faculty as Instructor of Music and Associate Music Director of the UA Opera Theatre. Additional coaching residencies will be announced through the year.
